GraceAccepted.com was created in the fall of 2014 as a blog to share about a year long mission trip on Team Ministry with Youth Encounter. Katie’s hope in creating Grace Accepted was to stay in touch with family, friends, and supporters while away from home. The goal was to spread the word about how Christ is working in and through the communities visited. In the fall of 2015, Katie accepted a position as a youth director in southeastern Nebraska. After two and a half years serving the community she loved and the youth and families who helped to shape her theology and mission in the church, she decided to apply to seminary.
Accepted at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN, Katie left her position as a youth director in January 2018 and began studies for an MA in Leadership and Innovation for ministry in February of that same year. She relocated to the Twin Cities with her puppy, Paco, that fall and is experiencing ministry through the lens of a theological education. She still seeks to share the real (and sometimes unbelievable) stories of her continued ministry.
Grace Accepted’s mission is to glorify the name of God and spread the news of his unfailing love through sharing stories, photos, testimonies, and the Word.
Katie is excited that you have decided to join Grace Accepted and follow along!
Meet Katie, a young woman with a heart for serving God. On September 15, 2013 she revealed to her family and friends that she would spend one year serving on a Youth Encounter National Ministry Team. The idea behind the blog Grace Accepted began there as she created a Facebook Page to share her journey.
Katie enjoys music, writing, reading, friends, family, and camping. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Wayne State College. As an adult, Katie has worked for YMCA Camp Kitaki, Tabitha Health Care Services, and Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church. She is on a journey of discerning and following God’s call. Katie served on Captive Free East Lakes during the ’14-’15 Ministry Year! She held the position of youth director from September 2015 to January 2018 before beginning her theological education at Luther Seminary in February 2018.
Katie grew up in the Cornhusker State (that’s Nebraska, if you didn’t know) and will always have a heart for her hometown, but she is excited to travel and experience what different states have to offer. One of the biggest challenges in life is to accept that God’s grace cannot be earned nor denied. Join Katie as she continues to spend each day learning and growing in His presence. Maybe she’ll even learn about accepting grace.
