Countdown to 2015!

Ten.
Nine.
Eight.

8:30am? You have GOT to be kidding me. Press snooze, roll over, and tug up that sleeping bag. 8:40am. Fine. I’ll get up. Rise, shine, and shower in the host church!  The return to team life is now complete! I should not have stayed up so late having a one-on-one the night before, but with the return to St. Paul, MN, it was totally worth it. Time to say our goodbyes to Central Plains and West Lakes. So many hugs. Call my event director and figure out the Cincinnati event information. Call a contact for Food Packaging in a few weeks to answer a follow-up question. Go greet the guys and load the trailer. 9:45am! Starbucks and check-ins. I’m back with my team for real. Drive four hours to Milford, IA to greet the staff at Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp. Welcome to New Year’s Eve!

Seven.
Six.
Five.

4:00pm. We made it! Unload our stuff from the trailer – packed floor to ceiling, you know! Rehearse for evening worship – and goodness, it’s good to make music with my team again! Have some dinner – amazing lasagna and green beans! Laugh hard, joke a lot, and get to know new people. It’s amazing here! But cold. So cold. That’s okay, I’m from Nebraska! I will live through it! Play some games, have some conversation. Talk about God a lot. Talk about his grace and love and mercy. Bring in the new year with the right attitude! I wish I could spend weeks with these people, not just one night. The Holy Spirit is really moving here. Let me tell you!

Four.
Three.

10:45pm. We are surrounded by people with arms and voices lifted high in praise. This is beautiful. The message is so fitting. Every word. Every thought of renewal, reformation, redefinition. God knows what I need to hear and when I need to hear it. I don’t even know how that works sometimes. And now we play. We don’t just play, though, we praise! Praise him and adore him. We love him. Love the Lord, our God, who chooses us. We pray together. 11:58pm. It’s almost time! With 90 seconds to the new year, the ball drop is up from YouTube, but YouTube freezes. That’s okay. We count down anyway…about a minute late.

Two.
One.
Happy New Year!

January 1, 2015. 12:01am. It’s 2015. I’m with my team. God loves us. Life is good. We cheer. We dance. We party! 1:00am…let the exhaustion begin… Off to bed I go, more fulfilled than I’ve been in an awfully long time.

May your 2015 be filled with joy and blessings!
